Child murder suspect held in Penza Region

The Penza Region Office of the Investigative Committee continues investigating a murder of a child under Part 2, item “c” of Article 105 of the RF Penal Code.

As became known earlier, dead body of a 10-year-old boy with traces of violent death was found about 9 PM, 27 February 2017, near a shop in Polevaya Street in the town of Sursk, Penza Region. The boy died of injuries on the scene.

A 34-year-old resident of Gorodishche District, Penza Region has been identified as a suspect and held in the shortest possible time thanks to well-planned work of investigators and police. The man has police records for car theft and drug dealing.

The investigators have pulled out footage from surveillance cameras which caught the boy being attacked and stabbed.

The footage showing the face of the attacker has been shown to acquaintances, relatives and salespersons of the shop located near the crime scene. They recognized the suspect, while salespersons of the shop confirmed that they had sold him some alcohol not long before the crime.

At the same time, employees of the Investigative Committee’s Forensic Directorate have made a drawing portrait of a person who also resembles the suspect.

The investigators searched the suspect’s house and seized three knives, clothes other objects relevant for the investigation.

The suspect has been interrogated and had confessed to the crime and has confirmed it on the scene.

Necessary investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances surrounding the crime. The suspect is going to be evaluated.

The suspect is now expecting charges and custodial restraint. The investigation is ongoing.
