In Voronezh Region, probe launched into murder of small girl in Petropavlovka District

On 1 March 2017, a 1-year-old girl was reported missing in a settlement in Petropavlovka District, Voronezh Region. The Voronezh Region Office of the Investigative Committee opened an investigation in a murder under Part 2, item “c” of Article 105 of the RF Penal Code and mounted a massive search together with the police, volunteers and local residents.

The girl’s dead body was found in the Tolucheyevka river in the settlement of Krasnosyolovka, Petropavlovka District on 2 march 2017. The body is being examined by forensic medical experts.

The girl’s 30-year-old father has been detained on suspicion of the crime. The investigators and forensic experts of the regional investigative authority, as well as police operative agents are now interrogating the suspect about motives of and circumstances surrounding the crime.

The investigators continue operations to find out all the factors of the crime, to collect and document the evidence. They have questioned witnesses and ordered a number of forensic examinations. They are going to take all necessary steps to find out the reasons for and contributing factors of the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
