At the order of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee the Leningrad Region Office of the Investigative Committee are taking all necessary steps to locate and detain a man suspected of running down a boy and using violence against him. They already know the man’s name.

According to investigators the incident involving the child happened in the town of Priozyorsk, Leningrad Region on 9 March 2017. Some children had been playing near a road shooting from a toy gun at passing cars. One of drivers angered by their behavior ran over one of the boys, then got out of the vehicle and used violence against him.

The Investigative Committee is going to give an unbiased evaluation to unnecessary harsh and aggressive actions of an adult man who believed it possible to apply such disciplinary measures to a boy, who was not his son, and was just playing with his friends. The Chairman ordered a full and thorough investigation in the crime and that the guilty one should be brought to justice and that the investigation should be finished within a short period of time.

The investigators are going to check the actions and omission of the police when they first learnt about the crime. As was revealed, the policemen who went to the crime scene let the suspect go without looking into the situation properly. In addition, the same day the police got a telephone message from a hospital informing that the child sustained some injuries, but the policemen still did nothing. The investigators are going to give a strict legal assessment to the situation.
