Attacker on military unit in Chechen Republic held

The North Caucasus Federal District Directorate of the Investigative Committee continues an investigation in an attempt on a military servant under Article 317, membership in an illicit armed unit under part 2 of Article 208, illegal circulation of firearms by an organized group under Part 3 of Article 222 and stealing of firearms by an organized group using violence under Part 4, items “a” and “b’ of Article 226 of the RF Penal Code after an attack on military unit No 3761 in the Chechen Republic.

According to investigators, on 24 March 2017, at about 2:10 AM, members of an illicit unit armed with knives and guns attacked the military unit located in the settlement of Naurskaya in Chechnya. 6 military servants were killed and three more were wounded in the assault. Six of the attackers were killed.

One of the attackers, a resident of Naurskaya District Ibragim Dzhamalov, 21 has been detained during well-planned investigative and search operations.  The man confessed to the crime.

At present Dzhamalov is expecting a custodial restraint, while the investigators carry on identifying other attackers.
