In Moscow, probe finished in storehouse fire killing 17

The Moscow Directorate of the Investigative Committee has finished criminal proceedings against CEO of print shop OOO Pechatny Express, a limited liability company Sergei Moskvin and its chief engineer responsible for fire safety Anton Yatskov. They are charged with a fire safety breach under Part 3 of Article 219 of the RF Penal Code.

Investigators have revealed, that on the morning of 27 August 2016, a fire started in a storehouse in Altufyevskoye highway in Moscow and them spread to 4 floors of the building. Bodies 16 people were found at the fire scene and another person died in hospital.

Thanks to well-planned investigative tactics and under the load of evidence Sergei Moskvin decided to sign a confession.

More than 30 forensic examinations, including fire ones, computer and technical ones and others, which helped to determine a cause-and-effect relation between the actions of the accused and death of people in the fire. The analysis of the evidence showed that the fire was caused by faulty lighting equipment and then spread out due to combustible toxic litter. Unauthorized changing of the building’s construction prevented the employees from evacuating during the fire.

Despite the fact that there were a lot of investigative operations and forensic inquiries run, the probe took 7 months and there are now 27 case files.

The investigators have enough evidence, so the criminal case with the signed indictment has been referred to court.
