In Moscow Region, man sentenced to life imprisonment in murder of woman and her three children

The evidence gathered by investigators of the Moscow Directorate of the Investigative Committee is seen as sufficient by court to pronounce a sentence to 24-year-old Dmitry Kolesnikov, who is found guilty of crimes under Items a, c, f, h, j of Part 2 of Article 105 of the RF Penal Code (homicide of two or more persons, including a child, committed by a generally dangerous means, with intent to rob, for the purpose of concealing another crime) and Part 2 of Article 167 (Wilful destruction or damage of property via arson, entailing death of people).

Investigators and a court have revealed that Kolesinkov and his female partner palnned to murder her mother and brother in order to get money and family property. According to developed plan, Kolesnikov arrived to house of the killed on 7 September 2016. At opportune moment he strangled the woman and then her 12-year-old son. Then he found inflammable liquid, poured it over his possessions that were covered in blood and ignited the liquid. He also broke the window and stream of air incoming into house started the fire. On the second floor of the house were two children – 3-year-old twins, who died due to intoxication by carbon oxide.

The criminal case against partner of the accused, Darya Pereverzeva, who managed to hide from law-enforcement agencies at initial stages of the investigation, was singled out to separate case. Pereverzeva was put in a wanted list. She was detained in December 2016 due to well-planned investigative operations and gathered criminal intelligence. Following investigators’ request a court has ruled to put her in custody pending trial. Currently she is charged with a crime under Part 3 of Article 33, Items a, c, h of Part 2 of Article 105 of the RF Penal Code (planning of homicide of two or more persons, including a child, committed with intent to rob).

More than 50 witnesses were questioned and 20 forensics tests were carried out during the investigation.

The court sentenced Kolesnikov to life imprisonment in a maximum security prison.
