Suspect of mass murder in Tver Region arrested

Following a request of the Tver Region Office of the Investigative committee a court has ruled to put Sergei Yegorov suspected of murdering 9 people in custody pending trial.

Investigators and criminalists of the Investigative Committee’s Central Office and Tver Region Office have used latest forensic equipment to examine the crime scene, interrogated the suspect and witnesses. They are now analyzing the evidence.

The investigators have revealed that on 3 June 2017, Yegorov came to a party to the summer house of his friend, where his wife and guests also were at the moment. Later in the evening the suspect had a quarrel with some of the guests, who then threw him out the property and promised to beat him if he showed up there ever again. The suspect went home, got a Saiga gun and cartridges, came back to the party and demanded that the men apologized to him. Several of the men started threatening him and Yegorov began shooting at them to scare them off. The suspect was under influence of alcohol and fired in everybody present at the property. He was stopped by law enforcers called by a 21-year-old female survivor. They held the perpetrator and now he is expecting a forensic psychiatric examination.

The investigators keep on looking in the incident. They are gathering and documenting evidence in order to finish the investigation as soon as possible and refer it to court.
