Probe launched in shelling by Ukrainian army wounding child

The Investigative Committee’s Head Office has opened an investigation in the use of prohibited means and methods of warfare under Part 1 of Article 356 of the RF Penal Code.

Ukraine’s military servants have yet again violated the ceasefire agreement of the Trilateral Contact Group in Donetsk and Luhansk Regions. At about 9:20 PM on 4 June 2017, military servants of the Ukraine’s Armed Forces and National Guard followed criminal orders of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s commanders and fired heavy artillery weapons at civilian infrastructure in Amudaryinskaya Street in Trudovskiye block of Petrovsky District in the city of Donetsk. A 37-year-old woman was killed, while her 9-year-old son was wounded.

The motive for the crime is political and ideological hatred as the population of the southeastern Ukraine refuse to recognize the current authority as legitimate and want to create isolated administrative-territorial entities.

Investigative and search operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the crime and to identify the officials who gave and followed the order.
