Investigative Committee Chairman orders control over check in Sochi incident where two children transported in trunk fell onto road

Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin has ordered his deputy to supervise a check in in incident that happened in the city of Sochi where two children fell onto a road from a car trunk.

According to preliminary information, on the afternoon of 5 June 2017, a woman was transporting her two children in the trunk of her Volvo car in the city of Sochi. When the car was moving on Gorky Street the children fell out on the road. The 3-year-old girl was injured and taken to hospital. Doctors say that her condition is normal, while her brother was not injured.

The check was launched by the Krasnodar Territory Office of the Investigative Committee after a video of the incident appeared in mass media.

Investigators are looking into all the circumstances surrounding the incident. After thorough analysis they will give legal assessment to the actions of the mother. A procedural decision will be made following the check.
