About midnight on 12 June 2017, a bus capsized on kilometer marker 702 of Irkutsk – Chita highway in Petrovsk-Zabaikalsky District, Transbaikalian Territory killing 10 people. The Transbaikalian Territory Office of the Investigative Committee has launched a check into the accident.

By now it is known that the bus in question is KIA which moved to the side of the road and overturned. 10 people died at the scene, while more than 20 more people were injured.

Investigators have started working at the accident scene. They are going to examine the scene, look into the circumstances of the incident, question the victims and eyewitnesses and request documents regarding the bus and its route. They are now checking if the accident happened due to provision of unsafe services under Article 238 of the RF Penal Code.

A procedural decision will be made following the check.
