Bryansk Region investigators take over probe in road accident killing teenagers

The Bryansk Region Office of the Investigative Committee has taken over an investigation opened in violation of road code entailing death of two or more people under Part 5 of Article 264 of the RF Criminal Code after a truck driver who ran over teenagers on a bus stop.

On the evening of 1 July 2017, the MAZ truck driver lost control of the vehicle on the turn near the village of Komyagino, Zhiryatino District, Bryansk Region. The vehicle swerved to the roadside and mowed down several teenagers. 15-year-old and 16-year-old died on the scene, two other teenagers were taken to hospital with a range of injuries.

At present, investigators are carrying out investigative operations to find out all the circumstances surrounding the incident and to bring the guilty one to justice.

Earlier, Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin ordered the Bryansk Region Office to request the investigation from police. The progress of the inquiry is under control at the Investigative Committee’s central office.
