Fourth member of gang that committed major crimes in Moscow from 2009 to 2012 detained

The Moscow Directorate of the Investigative Committee continues the investigation against a gang that committed murders and robberies in Moscow from 2009 to 2012.

As became known earlier, investigators found that Sergei Balikhin, Viktor Yakubiv and Marat Yusupov were involved in murder of nine people. One of the accomplices hid his face behind a bunch of yellow chrysanthemums.

In 2014, Balikhin, Yakubiv and Yusupov were found guilty of banditry under Article 209, murder under Part 2, items “a”, “g” and “h” of Article 105, robbery under part 4 of Article 162 and illegal circulation of firearms under Part 3 of Article 222 of the RF Criminal Code.

Balikhin was sentenced to life in a supermax correctional facility, Yakubiv to 14 years and Yusupov to 22 years in maximum security correctional facility.

Well-planned and efficient operations carried out by investigators of the Moscwo Directorate, officers of the Interior Ministry’s Crime Detection Directorate, Moscow Police Department and Ryazan Police Office identified and detained in Ryazan the fourth member of the gang – Denis Sarychev, 38, living in Moscow Region.

According to investigators, Sarychev was a member of the gang set up in 2009 by resident of Moscow Sergei Balikhin to attack and rob people. On 7 March 2009, together with accomplices he committed burglary in a flat in Zarevoi passage in Moscow. They killed three people, including a teenage girl and stole things worth 2 million 96 thousand rubles.

At present, Saryschev is being questioned and has been charged. A court has ruled to place the accused in custody pending trial. The investigation continues.
