Investigators of the Head Office of the Investigative Committee in conjunction with the Federal Security Service have carried out several operations and detained in the city of Rostov-on-Don Ukrainian citizen Roman Ternovsky involved in the activities of Right Sector, an extremist organization banned in the Russian Federation by the RF Supreme Court.

Ternovsky, as member of Right Sector, participated many times in mass riots, rallies and other events in Ukraine. He used his Facebook page to propagandize the activities of Right Sector among Internet users, including people living in the Russian Federation.

The said actions of Ternovsky were directed against interests of Russia and are classified as a crime under part 2 of Article 282.2 of the RF Criminal Code which provides criminal responsibility for involvement in extremist activities.

During a search in Ternovsky’s home in Rostov-on-Don, the investigators found clothes and other personal belongings with Right Sector’s logo on them.

A court has ruled to place Ternovsky in custody pending trial.

The investigators keep working to identify and pursue heads and other members of Right Sector.
