Investigators asking courts to arrest taxi driver charged with causing grievous bodily harm to man who later died of psychotropic substance poisoning in Northeast Moscow

The Moscow Directorate of the Investigative Committee is investigating a case against a 29-year-old man, charged with causing grievous bodily harm entailing death aggravated by robbery under Part 4 of Article 111, Part 4, item “c” of Article 162 of the RF Criminal Code.

The dead body of a 54-year-old man without visible bodily harm was found on the morning of 9 April 2017 near the road in Dvintsev Street in Moscow.

According to experts, the man died of ethyl alcohol and psychotropic drug poisoning.

The suspect was identified and detained during joint operations of investigators of the directorate and Moscow police.

According to investigators, the suspect has been working as a self-employed driver since 2016 and under different pretexts offered his clients mineral water where he had dissolved psychotropic drugs. When the drug started acting, the man stole from clients everything valuable they had.

The investigators searched the man’s home and confiscated a lot of phones and accessories to them, more than 100 watches and a lot of strong psychotropic drugs.

The accused admitted the guilt.

Today the investigators are asking courts to place the accused in custody pending trial. They keep working to collect and register evidence, and to reveal other similar crimes committed by the man or his accomplices. The investigation continues.
