In Kursk Region, Vitaly Pashchevsky sentenced for murder of 7-year-old boy

The evidence gathered by the Kursk Regional Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia was found sufficient by the court to sentence Vitaly Pashchevsky. He was found guilty of committing offences under Paragraphs A and D of Part 2 of Article 242.1 (distribution and public demonstration of materials or objects showing pornographic pictures of minors via the Internet), Paragraph C of Part 2 of Article 242.2 (using a minor for the purpose of making pornographic materials or objects), Paragraph B of Part 4 of Article 132 (violent sexual actions), and Paragraphs C and J of Part 2 of Article 105 (murder of a minor attended by rape or violent sexual actions) of the Criminal Code of Russia.

The investigation and the court established that, in the afternoon of October 23, 2018, 39-year-old Pashchevsky had met his 7-year-old neighbor in an elevator of his apartment building. Under a false pretext, he had lured the boy into his apartment, where he had committed sexual violence against the child and murdered him in order to avoid punishment for his deed. To conceal the offences, he had brought the body of the child to Troyanovo rural settlement, located about 20 km from Zheleznogorsk, where he had hidden the body in a forest outside his garden plot, covering the victim with branches, leaves, and grass.

Due to the focused work of investigators and forensic experts of the Investigative Committee of Russia in collaboration with officers of other law enforcement bodies, it was possible to identify the person involved in the committing of offences against the child and gather enough evidence to bring him to justice. An investigative team of best investigators and forensic specialists of the Kursk Regional Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia was established to investigate this case. Already in the first days of the investigation, the investigators arranged over 30 forensics examinations, including DNA tests, and questioned over 100 people.

The court sentenced Vitaly Pashchevsky to 23 years of imprisonment in a strict regime colony.
