The Leningrad Regional Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia continues the investigation launched in April 2019 into the disappearance of Mikhail Dolgopolov under Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of Russia (murder).
Three perpetrators and one accomplice of the murder were detained during the well-planned and professionally performed joint activities of officers of the Regional Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia and the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Saint Petersburg and Leningrad Region. The perpetrators are citizens of Veliky Novgorod of 32, 33, and 36 years of age; the accomplice is a 54-year-old Saint Petersburg citizen. Depending on their involvement, they were charged with committing offences under Paragraph G of Part 2 of Article 105 (murder committed by a group of persons under preliminary conspiracy), Part 5 of Article 33, Paragraph G of Part 2 of Article 105 (assistance to murder). The court ruled to keep them in custody.
According to the investigation, the members of the criminal group had preliminary conspired to murder Mikhail Dolgopolov. In order to commit the offence, the accused individuals had purchased a firearm (a TT) and a transport vehicle (a Ford Mondeo). According to their roles, on April 16, 2019, one of the accused had driven the victim through deception to a rented cottage located in Vaia settlement of Gatchinsky District of Leningrad Region, where the two co-perpetrators had been waiting for them. There the victim had been murdered with a headshot. After committing the offence, the convicts had taken measures to hide traces of the offence and of the body of the deceased. They had transported the body to Novgorod Region and buried it in a forest.
Due to the meticulous work of the investigator of the Investigative Committee of Russia, who managed to establish a psychological contact with the perpetrators, the perpetrators disclosed detailed circumstances of the offence, which made it possible to find the body of the victim.
Today, as part of the investigation, officers of the Regional Directorate of the Investigative Committee with the assistance of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have carried out a search in a house located in Vsevolozhsky District of Leningrad Region that belongs to a supposed instigator of the offence. During the search, the officers discovered and seized firearms, ammunition, cash, and documents of interest for the investigation.
