Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin has had a working meeting with Head of International Relations Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of France Jean-Jacques Colombi and Deputy Director of the Financial Crimes Control Directorate of the French Criminal Police Thomas D. Ricolphy in Paris.
France is our historical partner in Europe and in the world. Cooperation between Russia and France in the law enforcement area is one of the most extensively developing areas of interaction. The parties noted that relations between Russia and France were fundamental and had big potential.
The exchange of opinions on the international agenda was, among all, focused on key aspects of the interaction between the Investigative Committee of Russia and the Ministry of Interior of France.
During the meeting, Alexander Bastrykin and Jean-Jacques Colombi raised a whole number of mutually relevant important issues of the bilateral cooperation, summed up this year’s interaction, and outlined plans for joint work in 2020.
The parties also agreed to prepare an update for the Law Enforcement Cooperation Agreement between the Investigative Committee of Russia and the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of France.
Moreover, the parties discussed opportunities of a teachers’ and students’ exchange, as well as educational experience exchange between the Academies of the Investigative Committee and the educational institutions of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of France.
Alexander Bastrykin noted that the meeting gave a serious positive momentum for further strengthening bilateral relations.
The meeting confirmed that the French partners maintain the position of supporting an atmosphere of trust and cooperation in Europe and the development of a constructive dialogue between Russia and Western countries.
