The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation instructed to report on the circumstances of the death of an eight-year-old girl in a hospital in the Republic of Mari El, established in the course of the investigation. The reason for this was the information published in the media about the acquittal of a pediatrician at Orsha Central Regional Hospital by the Supreme Court of the Republic of Mari El. According to publications, this decision was made as part of the appeal hearing of the criminal case. The girl's parents strongly disagree with the court ruling and intend to appeal it.
The probe under discussion was investigated and referred to the court by the Investigative Committee of Russia under Part 2 of Article 109, Part 2 of Article 237 of the Criminal Code of Russia (infliction of death by negligence, forgery). The verdict of the Medvedevsky District Court of the Republic of Mari El found the pediatrician guilty of both offenses. However, the Supreme Court of the Mari El Republic acquitted the defendant only under Part 2 of Article 327 of the Criminal Code of Russia. The decision of the court of the first instance under Part 2 Article 109 of the Criminal Code was left unchanged - the woman was found guilty of committing this crime.
The head of the Investigative Committee of Russia requested from his subordinates information on the completeness of the assessment of the totality of circumstances in the framework of the preliminary investigation.
