Mr. Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, took part in a meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission of the Security Council of the Russian Federation for the improvement of the state migration policy, held in the videoconference format, chaired by Mr. Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council RF. The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers, Heads of Directorates and Departments.
The Investigative Committee continues its systemic work on countering the crimes committed by expatriates and individuals from migrant backgrounds. The first half of the year demonstrated an increase in unlawful acts committed by migrants, most of which are the crimes that are of grave public danger, such as murder and rape.
The illegal migration problem was touched on during the meeting. It was noted that persons of such category are most inclined to commit socially dangerous illegal acts. Participants of the meeting emphasized that the fight against illegal migration is one of the most important directions of the state’s domestic policies.
Preventive measures were also discussed. In the course of investigation, officers of the IC of Russia establish the circumstances that contributed to the commission of the crime and make recommendations about elimination of violations.
The necessity to arrange the most favorable conditions for the residents from Donbas and Ukraine residing in our country who found themselves in a difficult life situation has also been discussed at the meeting. A flexible state support system has been formed to help such residents with employment, restoring lost documents, and additional social support.
At the end of the event, specific proposals and decisions were made.
