A special event dedicated to the 68th anniversary of the Forensic Service establishment was held

The Investigative Committee of Russia hosted a special event dedicated to the 68th anniversary of the establishment of the Forensic Service. It was attended by Mr. Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, First Deputy Chairman and Vice-Chairmen of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Heads of Directorates of the Main Directorte of the Department, institutions of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Officers of Territorial and Military Investigative Bodies, Veterans of the Investigation, students of Educational Institutions of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation and other invited persons.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia noted that the first Head of the Main Forensic Directorate, Mr. Yuri Ivanovich Lekanov, played a pivotal role in the establishment and development of the Forensic Service in the Investigative Committee. It was him, who proposed to insert the position of a Forensic Investigator at the Legislative Level. This allowed forensic specialists to take part in the investigation, providing practical assistance to it. "Many things have started with the initiatives, ideas and proposals of Mr. Yuri Ivanovich. He was the soul of management, a wonderful comrade, friend, and a mentor in some ways. He is an unforgettable figure in the history of the Investigative Committee," explained Mr. A.I. Bastrykin. In particular, on the initiative of Mr. Yu.I. Lekanov, the latest achievements of science and technology, as well as methods aimed at solving and investigating various types of crimes, began to be actively introduced into practice. Everybody honored Mr. Lekanov with a minute of silence.

Speaking about the work of Forensic Divisions, the Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee emphasized: "We have made great strides over the past 15 years. I want to thank the Forensic Experts as today they catch the most important technologies, methods and methods, including digital technologies. Once again, I thank the forensic experts for their promptness, high professionalism, and courage." The result of their work and the of the Forensic Directorates of the Investigative Committee is in close cooperation with other Law Enforcement Agencies; It resuted to thousands of solved crimes, including those of previous years. At the same time, the Head of the Department focused on the need to transfer experience to the younger generation: "We must create a new generation of Forensic Specialists. I invite veterans of our Forensic Service to more active work with our youth," he said.

The Head of the Department especially noted the important work of Forensic Specialists, Investigators and Experts in criminal cases launched on the crimes committed by Ukrainian armed groups against civilians. At the moment, they have examined the destroyed and damaged civilian infrastructure of Mariupol, Rubizhne, Severodonetsk, Shchastya, Kirovsk, partially Lisichansk and the settlements adjacent to them. These are more than 61 thousand objects, including 57 thousand private and 3 thousand apartment buildings, 125 kindergartens and 130 schools. The damage caused and the cost of restoring the destroyed buildings are also calculated.

Mr. A.I. Bastrykin thanked the Veterans of the Investigation and Forensic Service for their selfless work during many years, the invaluable experience and the best traditions that they pass on to the younger generation of Officers.

Mr. Anatoly Ivanovich Sazonov, Head of the Main Forensic Directorate (Forensic Center), spoke at the event. He explained that high results of work are the well-collaborated work of Forensic Specialists of the Main Directorate and Territorial Investigative Bodies. He also emphasized the need for training-classes conducted with the younger generation, which allow the transfer of experience and traditions to future Officers of the Department, as well as the development of methods and the introduction of new Forensic techniques. Mr. Ivan Alexandrovich Streltsov, Deputy Head of the Main Forensic Directorate (Forensic Center), spoke about the development of digital forensics, the capabilities of which currently help to resolve many crimes.

In addition, the floor was given to a Member of the National Association of Organizations of Veterans of Investigative Agencies "Union of Veterans of Investigation" Mr. Vladimir Vasilievich Dontsov and a member of the Regional Public Organization "Union of Veterans of Investigation", a veteran of the Main Forensic Directorate Mr. Evgeny Georgievich Kilesso. They noted the highest professionalism and intuition of Mr. Yu.I. Lekanov, who thought strategically and saw promising directions for the development of forensic science.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia presented Departmental Awards to the Officers of the Forensic Service, wishing them further success in fulfilling their tasks. Departmental Awards were granted to Veterans of the Investigation, as well as Ms. Irina Ivanovna Lekanova, who is the wife of Mr. Yuri Ivanovich Lekanov.

During special event, all participants and guests visited an exhibition dedicated to the life path of Mr. Yu.I. Lekanov; it was organized by the Main Forensic Directorate.

At the end of the event, a concert took place; it was prepared by Officers and Students of Educational Institutions of the Russian Investigative Committee.
