Statement of Investigative Committee on case over mass riots on Bolotnaya Ploshchad

The information spread in media and Internet by Aleksey Navalny about alleged cracking of his email and Twitter account through personal and tablet computers seized by the investigators during an authorized search in his apartment is untrue.

During searches within a criminal case over disturbances and use of violence against representatives of the authority on 06.05.2012 on Bolotnaya Ploshchad in Moscow, the relevant documents and objects were seized including A. Navalny’s computers.

The said objects were examined by investigators in presence of witnesses and after that sealed in due order.

The information stored on the seized computers will be studied by investigators during a computer-technical legal expertise.

Access to the seized computers by unauthorized persons, their transmission to a third party or unauthorized switching on are ruled out.

The Investigative Committee regards the spread of untrue information by A. Navalny as pressure and an attempt to discredit the investigation. Any statements accusing the investigators of using the seized property to unlawful ends are going to get legal evaluation.
