In Volga Federal District criminal case initiated against Bashkortostan Deputy Minister for Internal Affairs

The Volga Federal District Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee on 3 July 2012 started a criminal case against Bashkortostan Republic Deputy Minister for Internal Affairs Major-General of police Alexander Ovchinnikov on signs of crimes under articles 285, 290 ot the RF Criminal Code (abuse of official powers and bribe-taking).

The basis for the case is materials of the Bashkortostan Republic Federal Security Service Directorate and the Department of Inner Security of Ministry of Internal Affairs, according to which a police squad commander filed an application stating that Ovchinnikov repeatedly had received from him expensive gifts and property services in exchange for the most convenient carrier conditions and for the general patronage and connivance.

Within the framework of the investigation a number of necessary investigation operations will be carried out in order to establish all circumstances subject to being proved.
