Mayor of Rybinsk in Yaroslavl Region charged with bribery

The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee in Yaroslavl Region have charged mayor of Rybinsk Yuri Lastochkin with the crime under part 6 of article 290 of the RF Penal Code (taking a bribe aggravated by extortion on an especially massive scale). The criminal investigation against his assistant Gennady Telegin is underway. He is suspected of the crime under part 4 of article 291.1 of the RF Penal Code (mediation in bribery on an especially massive scale).

According to investigators, in July 2013, Lastochkin demanded from the CEO of one of the municipal unitary enterprises a bribe of 2 million rubles for assisting in his managing activity. He was to give the money through the mayor’s assistant. On 15 July and 22 October 2013 Telegin received from the CEO and gave to Latochkin a part of the bribe of 1 million rubles. On 24 October 2013, Telegin was detained while receiving another part of the bribe of 1 million rubles.

The investigating operations are underway to find all the circumstances of the crime. The accused is in custody. The second object of investigation Gennady Telegin will be charged in the near future.
