Citizen of Uzbekistan suspected of bribing officer of Federal Security Service in Saint-Petersburg

Saint-Petersburg Transport Investigations Department of the Northwestern Transport Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s investigative Committee has launched a criminal case against 35-year-old Elmir Aliyev. He is suspected of the crime under part 3 of article 291 of the RF Penal Code (giving a bribe to an official personally for illegal actions (inaction).

According to investigators, Aliyev wanted to set up in the Pulkovo airport a smuggling channel for illegal import in the Russian Federation of citizens of CIS countries banned from entering our country for different violations. With that purpose he arranged with an officer of the border service of the Federal Security Service for 10 thousand rubles to bring in a citizen of Tajikistan banned from our country for earlier administrative misdemeanor – violation of rules for staying of foreign citizens in the Russian Federation. Having agreed with the officer that the channel will operate constantly and that was the first test variant, he gave him the stipulated sum of 10 thousand rubles. However, the officer had informed his superiors about the Aliyev’s wrongdoings and all their negotiations were controlled by operational services of the Federal Security Service. Aliyev was detained at the moment he was giving the money.

At present investigating operations are underway to find all the circumstances of the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
