Check launched in Krasnodar Territory over bribery of arbitrage judge

The Krasnodar Territory Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee is carrying out a pre-investigating check into receiving of money by the judge of Krasnodar Territory arbitrage Sergey Rusov.

According to preliminary data, the judge was considering the action of Sochi administration on recovery of penalty from a construction company. In October 2012 Rusov invited to his office a representative of a defendant, and offered him to give him 20 million rubles for ruling in favor of the construction company. The representative of the defendant agreed to the offer, but reported it to the Krasnodar Territory Investigations Directorate. Later the representative of the defendant twice met with the judge in his office and gave him the necessary sum. After the final receiving of the money the judge’s actions were stopped by operative agents of the Krasnodar territory Directorate of the Federal Security Service, who acted on the instructions of the investigators.

At present check is underway to establish all the circumstances of the crime. In connection with the fact that the judges are included in the category of persons, against whom special procedure of launching criminal proceedings is applied, based on the bases of the check in accordance with article 448 of the RF Criminal Procedure Code if there are grounds the Chairman of the Investigative Committee will make a statement to Supreme Qualification Board of Judges. In case the board grants the motion, the criminal case against the arbitrage judge will be investigated in the Central Office of the Investigative Committee.
