Criminal proceeding launched against US citizen aver sexual abuse of his Russian adopted son

On the orders of the Investigative Committee Chairman the investigations directorate has checked and launched a criminal case against US citizen Shed Laverne Taylor over sexual abuse of a person under fourteen years of age (paragraph “b” of part 4 of article 132 of the RF Criminal Case) – his Russian adopted son Maxim Babayev.

Caleb Maxim Taylor – Maxim Babayev before adoption, born in 2006 – was adopted Shedon Laverne Taylor and his wife Christie Rene in March 2009.

According to investigators in the period between 2009 and 2011, the adoptive parent Shedon Taylor sexually abused his adopted son. The fact became known in 2012. Then the US court convicted the Taylors for physical abuse of their adopted son. Shedon and Christie Taylor received five years and one year suspended sentence respectively. The US law enforcement did not charge the adoptive father with sexual abuse of a child, nor did they undertake any investigation in the circumstances of the crime.

An investigating group has been created in connection with large amount of investigating work to be done. Necessary requests on legal assistance will be sent to US competent bodies in one of these days. Investigation is to be continued.
