The number of criminal investigations against former policemen in Tatarstan increased by half

In connection with the statements released by the Internet that the investigation against Dalny police station police officers has been allegedly “wrapped up with no grounds” the Investigative Committee informs that the investigation of this criminal case is at the finishing stage and is under personal control of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee.

In March 2012, a group of experienced investigators of the Central Office and Tatarstan Investigations Directorate was set up by the Chairman Alexander Bastrykin to reveal and investigate crimes committed by personnel of Dalny police station. There were several personal appointments during which citizens complained about illegal actions of the policemen. As a result of this work, there were launched 18 criminal cases which are filed in a single law suit and at present 8 former policemen of Dalny police station are being prosecuted. They are former Deputy Chief of Crime Detection Department Almaz Vasilov, 25, Chief of Crime Detection Department Aynur Rakhmatullin, 31, Chief of criminal militia, Deputy Chief of Police Department Fail Sabirzyanov, 26, police operatives Ramil Akhmetzyanov, 25, Ilnar Ibatullin, 24, Amir Sharafullin, 29, Alexander Fadeyev, 28, Dmitry Vasilyev, 23.

The former policemen are charged with crimes under article 286 of the Russian Federation Criminal Code (exceeding official powers). In addition, Akhmetzyanov, Vasilov, Ibatullin and Sabirzyanov are charged with crimes under part 4 of article 111 of the Russian Federation Criminal Code (grave injury entailing death of the victim). No one of former policemen pleaded guilty. At the moment the accused are studying the materials of the case. The court under the petition of the investigators put the seven of the accused into custody. One more of the accused is under written undertaking not to leave the place and behave properly.

Criminal cases against R. Nigmatzyanov and I.Garifullin convicted of part 1 of article 286 of the RF Criminal Code to 2 years and 2 years and 6 months respectively, were severed into separate law suits in July 2012 in connection with concluding a pre-trial cooperation agreemet.

Criminal case against former Chief of Dalny police station Ilgiz Akhmetzyanov, 45, was severed in a separate law suit in connection with his illness. Akhmetzyanov suffered from two myocardial infarctions and according to medical report any investigating operations with him are impossible during next six months. As soon as health of the accused allows it, the criminal case will by all means be completed in accordance the order.

This way the Investigative Committee has held criminally liable all former policemen of Dalny police station involved in numerous crimes against citizens. In all, last year the Tatarstan investigating bodies initiated 117 criminal cases against policemen, which is by half more than 2011. 27 cases against policemen were sent to courts.
