Declaration of the Skolkovo Foundation on their initiative in giving up materials on embezzlement to the competent bodies is not true

Almost lightning-quick reaction of press-service of the Skolkovo Foundation following the launching of criminal investigation into embezzlement of the money allocated to develop the high-tech hub should not be taken seriously.

In fact representatives of the Foundation stretched the truth a lot claiming that they voluntarily handed over the materials on the financial violations revealed during an inner audit in one of its affiliated companies. On the contrary, the Foundation concealed this information, but had to reveal it after the Chamber of Accounts had started the check. The Russia’s Investigative Committee insists that it was after the check of the Chamber of Accounts and interference of the Federal Security Service that investigators learned about the disclosed crimes. There were no voluntary reports or initiative on behalf of the Foundation in giving up the materials before intervention of the competent bodies.

As part of the investigation, of which the Investigative Committee has officially announced today, we are going to find other facts of the crime and check other senior officials of the Foundation on involvement in the crime and to qualify the role of officials of the Finance Ministry, who control spending of budget funds. It is very important that the investigators are now taking steps to compensate the stolen millions to the budget. And of course investigators are expecting real assistance from the Foundation in this investigation.
