Former deputy of Volgograd City Duma compensates to budget over 7 million rubles obtained by fraud

A court in Volgograd has tried a case against deputy of Volgograd City Duma Vladimir Brovko preliminarily investigated by the investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Volgograd Region. He was charged with the crimes under parts 2 and 3 of article 159 of the RF Penal Code (fraud in business committed on a large and especially large scales) and part 1 of article 327 (forgery of official documents).

The court and investigation found that in the period between August 2009 and late 2011, Brovko systematically concluded municipal contracts with the Volgograd City Duma and in 2010 with Office for Capital Repairs and Technical Provision of the Activity of the Local Authorities in Gorodishche Municipal District on transport services at night, on weekends and holidays and for business trips. Although the services were provided not in full, each month the deputy submitted falsified documents to the Duma, based on which over 9.5 million rubles were transferred to his account from the budget.

Due to the fact that during the trial the accused pleaded guilty and compensated over 7 million rubles of damages to the budget, the criminal case against him was closed. Brovko and the Volgograd City Duma signed conciliation of parties.
