In Moscow lawyer found guilty of obstructing justice and initial investigation

A court has recognized the evidence gathered by the investigating bodies of the Moscow Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee sufficient to convict lawyer of board of lawyers “Your partner lawyer” of the Moscow Region Lawyers Chamber Alexander Slivko. He was found guilty of a crime under part 2 of article 294 of the RF Penal Code (obstruction of justice and initial investigation).

The court and investigators found that in the period between November 2011 and October 2012, Slivko conspired with official of the Moscow Region Main Investigations Directorate Eduard Zaytaev and gave him forged reports of investigating and procedural operations in an investigation over banditry and series of murders. For a fee of 100 thousand rubles Zaytsev replaced and destroyed the real reports. As a result of those wrongdoings a court returned the case to eliminate the forgery admitted by the accused during a trial. This way the time of investigation was delayed, which might have resulted in release of the accused.

The accused lawyer did not admit his guilt. The court sentenced Slivko to a fine of 40 thousand rubles and banned him from advocatory practice for one year.

Eduard Zaytsev earlier was found guilty of a crime under part 3 of article 294 of the RF Penal Code (obstruction of justice and initial investigation using official position). He received a suspended sentence of 1.5 years in prison and was banned from occupying any positions in law enforcement for 2 years.
