In Krasnoyarsk criminal case opened over violation of safety rules in former workshop of Yenisey chemical plant

The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Krasnoyarsk Territory have opened a criminal case over signs of a crime under part 1 of article 216 of the RF Penal Code (violation of safety rules during mining, building and other work).

According to a preliminary version, on 27 June 2014, a 23-year-old man was discharging his duty in rented premises (former workshop of Krasnoyarsk chemical plane Yenisey), where fuels and lubricants were stored. At 4 PM fumes of fuels and lubricants concentrated in a close room exploded. The explosion damaged the building and injured the man, who suffered severe burns to 80% of his body. The man was taken to the burn center of territorial clinical hospital No 1 unconscious and in grave condition.

By now, specialists have examined the incident scene and seized two cell phones, building tools, fragments of the construction from the explosion site. Forensic chemical tests have been fixed for the samples of liquids from the tanks in the workshop and near it.

At present investigating operations are under way to find out all the circumstances of the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
