In Mordovia deputy head of Ruzaiyevka administration found guilty of bribetaking

A court has recognized the evidence gathered by the investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Republic of Mordovia sufficient to convict deputy head of administration – head of the department for architecture and town building of the administration of the town of Ruzayevka Ivan Alemayev, 55. He was found guilty of crimes under paragraphs “b” and “c” of part 5 of article 290 of the RF Penal Code (taking a bribe by extortion on a large scale), part 1 of article 290 (taking a bribe – 2 counts).

The court and investigators have found that in 2013 for assistance in concluding a contract on designing the plan of Ruzayevka’s downtown area Alemayev demanded from director of the designing company a bribe of 1 million rubles. Moreover, he threatened that otherwise the company might have had problems in agreeing the developed architecture and building documents in the department headed by Alemayev. The man reported Alemayev to the Mordovian Office of the Federal Security Service so the passing of 200 thousand rubles was supervised by the operatives. On 5 March 2014, after having got the money the official was detained and then taken to custody.

During the probe the investigators revealed 2 more wrongdoings committed by the accused. This way, in May 2013Alemayev received a bribe of 10 thousand rubles from the owner of a food store for assisting in getting a permit to rearrange the entrance to the store. In addition, the same 2013 Alemayev got a bribe of 15 thousand rubles from a representative of the regional research information center for general patronage in agreeing architectural documents filed with the department for architecture and town building.

The court has sentenced Alemayev to 4.5 years to be served in a maximum-security penal colony and a fine of 5 million rubles.
