Investigative Committee going to find true cause of Maxim Kuzmin’s death

The Russian Investigative Committee is going to find true cause of 3-year-old Russian Maxim Kuzmin’s death in USA.

It is strange that at first the representative of American social service said that Maxim had died of cruel treatment by his adoptive mother. At the same time it was noted that the examination of the body had revealed numerous bruises and scratches on his head and legs, the autopsy showed injuries to stomach and internal organs. But now the American party says that the child died of an accidental injury he made to himself without anybody’s help.

The conclusions are too conflicting, and that cannot but cause a lot of questions. For us the circumstances of Maxim Kuzmin’s death will stay open until the real cause of his death is not found. To do this Russian investigators have to study the materials of the Investigation led by the American party. So if our colleagues in USA want to make us believe that the child died as the result of an accident, we can see no reasons for them to share their investigatory materials and for a start can sent Russian investigators conclusions of forensic medical tests as part of an answer to our request of legal support.

I don’t think it embarrassing for the American competent bodies to cooperate this way with Russian investigating bodies, when it is about the death of the child, who before that had been a Russian citizen and had died in the territory of the United States of America in at least strange circumstances. Anyway, the Investigative Committee on its part will use all lawful means within Russian legislation and international law to find the true cause of Maxim Kuzmin’s death and persons responsible for that.

In addition, as part of this investigation we are going to carefully look into all the circumstances in which Kuzmin brothers were adopted. For this investigators are already checking lawfulness and authenticity of documents, which were the basis for the decision on adoption. The information that the boys could be adopted by Americans only after several Russian families had refused to adopt them is also being checked.
