Former first deputy of and assistant prosecutor of Kislovodsk, Stavropol Territory found guilty of bribery

Jury have found the evidence collected by the North Caucasian Federal District Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee sufficient to convict Vitaly Timofeyev, the former first deputy of prosecutor of Kislovodsk and Svetlana Reznikova, former senior assistant prosecutor of Kislovodsk. Timofeyev was found guilty of a crime under paragraph “c” of part 5 of article 290 of the RF Criminal Code (taking a bribe), Reznikova – of intermediary in bribery (paragraph “c” of part 3 of article 291.1).

The court and investigators found that Timofeyev wanting to get a bribe from the owner of a block of flats under construction in Kislovodsk, having revealed violations of the current legislation, demanded through Reznikova to give him 1 million rubles for not taking any measures. During subsequent negotiations with the representatives of the owner the sum was brought down to 700 thousand rubles.

During the search and investigating operations carried out by staffers of the Stavropol Territory Directorate of the Federal Security Service Timofeyev was apprehended while receiving a bribe of 600 thousand rubles in the building of Kislovodsk prosecutor’s office.

Based on damning verdict passed by the jury, the court will pass a sentence.
