Criminal investigation into death of girl from orphanage in Irkutsk region taken under control of Investigative Committee Central Office

 Investigative agencies of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in the Irkutsk region opened a criminal investigation into the suicide of a girl from an orphanage for the crime under Article 110 of the RF Criminal Code (incitement to suicide).

As previously reported, April 12, 2013 in the day time law enforcement agencies received information that the body of 17-year-old girl was found hanging on the robe belt in the correctional orphanage.

According to investigators, the girl was doing out the bedroom in the morning together with other children. Then she was left alone, and later was found dead by children. Two suicide notes have been found among her belongings during the search.

A set of investigative and operational activities aimed at establishing the circumstances of the incident and the causes and conditions that led to this tragedy is underway. Dozens of children and caregivers have been questioned. A number of expert examinations have been scheduled to establish the exact cause of death of a minor. As part of a criminal investigation, the legal assessment will be given to the actions (inaction) of caregivers and management of the orphanage.

The criminal investigation is ongoing.
