Sergei Pomazun questioned as accused of murder of six Belgorod residents refused to testify

The investigating authorities of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in the Belgorod region are continuing urgent investigative actions with the accused, Sergei Pomazun. He has been charged with offenses under Paragraph "a" of Part 2 of Article 105, Part 1 of Article 226, Paragraph "b" of Part 4 of aArticle 226 of the Criminal Code (murder of six people, theft of weapons and ammunition, theft of ammunition, committed by using violence dangerous for life and health).

In accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation, Sergei Pomazun has already been questioned by the investigator in the presence of counsel. He refused to testify citing the Article 51 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, which gives the right against self-incrimination.

In the near future the court will consider the application of investigators to elect custody as a pre-trial measure of restraint against Sergei Pomazun.

As part of the investigation, the investigator has scheduled a set of expert examinations, including ballistics, fingerprinting, investigative and forensic ones, and psychological examination of the accused. The motive of the crime is being investigated.

In addition, the Investigating agencies of the Moscow interregional transport investigation department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation initiated a criminal case against Sergei Pomazun for an offense under Article 317 of the Criminal Code (attempt on the life of a law enforcement officer).

According to preliminary data, April 23, 2013 at about 22.45 Sergei Pomazun caused the stab wounds of forearms and the face one of the policemen during the arrest. The decision on consolidating two criminal cases into one proceeding will be taken in the near future.
