Investigative Committee Chairman arrived in Belgorod to coordinate investigation into murder of six people

Today the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin and a group of investigators and forensic experts of the Central Office arrived in Belgorod in connection with the criminal investigation into the murder of 6 people on April 22, 2013 in the city center.

During the visit, Alexander Bastrykin held an operational meeting at the investigation department of the Belgorod region to hear the course of a criminal investigation. Investigative Committee Chairman approved the set of undertaken and planned investigative activities. Alexander Bastrykin stressed the need to find the instrument of a crime, seize videotapes, establish the place where the suspect Sergei Pomazun was hiding before the detention and find all witnesses of the incident. By decision of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee, one of the most experienced investigators of the Main Investigation Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation took charge of the investigative team.

It should be noted that Alexander Bastrykin began his visit to Belgorod with the laying of flowers at the site of the tragedy at the Narodny Boulevard. Chairman of the Investigative Committee, expressed his condolences to the people of the city, assuring them of the most objective, professional, and prompt investigation of the criminal case. Talking about the detained person, Alexander Bastrykin stressed that: "In this case, the main task of the investigating authorities is proving his involvement in the crimeand identifying all the reasons and conditions that contributed to this, so the court was able to make an objective judgment."

The investigation of this criminal case has been taken by the Chairman of the Investigative Committee under his personal control.
