Investigators of Urals transport Investigations Directorate assign forensic medical examinations and DNA tests of remains of 13 dead bodies found in An-2 missing in June 2012

Urals Transport Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee continue investigating a criminal case launched over part 3 of article 263 of the RF Criminal Code (violation of safety rules of traffic and operation of air transport entailing death of more than two people) – over unauthorized take-off from an airfield in Serov of An-2 plane with passengers aboard.

Yesterday investigators and forensic medical experts examined the scene and the remains of 13 bodies. The fragments of the bodies were seized from the scene and sent to Yekaterinburg to run forensic medical and DNA tests to find the cause of death and identify them. Today the forensic medical experts started examinations.

Earlier during this criminal investigation investigators had assigned and run DNA tests on the relatives of the missing passengers and the captain of the aircraft. The results of the tests will be used for identification of the dead bodies.

Now investigators are going on working at the crash scene together with the staffers of regional office of Russian Aviation. They are examining the scene, fragments of the plane, taking measures to seize from the scene fuels and lubricants. In addition, investigators found gold jewels, which were also seized to be identified by the relatives of the passengers and the captain of An-2.

At the moment investigators are considering the following possible versions of the crash no one of which is a priority – technical failure, errors of the pilot and unfavorable weather conditions. Investigation is ongoing.
