Series of expert examinations assigned to find all circumstances of murder of priest in Pskov Region

On the decision of the head of Pskov Region Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee the criminal case over murder of priest Pavel Adelgeim has been transferred from investigation into especially serious crimes department of the regional investigations directorate.

As it has been reported earlier in the evening of 5 August 2013, the body of 75-year-old orthodox priest Pavel Adelgeim with a knife wound to his chest was found in his house in Krasnogorskaya Street in Pskov.

According to preliminary information a man from Moscow born in 1986 who came into the priest’s house may have a hand in the crime. While being detained the man stabbed himself and was hospitalized with a knife wound to his lung. At present he is in hospital, he has been operated on and his life is supported by an artificial lung. As soon as he is stable, investigators are going to question him and subject to other investigating operations.

At present the victim’s body is under forensic medical expert examination. A series of other forensic and medical tests have been assigned. A preliminary cause of death is massive loss of blood due to a wound in heart.

Investigation is ongoing.
