On 7 August 2013 citizens from Sverdlovsk, Novgorod, Bryansk, Samara and Leningrad Regions, Republic of Kalmykia, Moscow and Saint-Petersburg called Chairman of the Russian Federation Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin.

Most of those who called complained about decisions of the officials to refuse to launch criminal investigations, improper procedural checks and investigation of criminal cases under proceedings in investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee.

This way, a woman from Kalmykia complained about improper investigation into the death of her two underage grandchildren.

Mr. Bastrykin gave explicit instructions to the heads of a number of territorial investigating bodies of the Investigative Committee.
