Criminal group led by former psychiatrist, head of Orenburg Self-Perfection Foundation Vyacheslav Vesnin convicted in Orenburg Region

The court has found the evidence gathered by the investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee in Orenburg Region enough to convict members of a criminal group led by former psychiatrist, organizer and leader of a sect Vyacheslav Vesnin. Depending on the role of each one they were found guilty of crimes under part 1 article 239 of the RF Penal Code (organization of an association encroaching on the personality and rights of citizens), article 135 (lecherous actions against children, committed by a group of people in a preliminary conspiracy), part 1 of article 282 (incitement of hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity).

The court and investigators have found that Vyachslav Vesnin, working as a psychiatrist in Orenburg regional psychiatric clinic, together with four local men set up a criminal group disguised as a public foundation - a so called “school of self-perfection”. The foundation existed for 10 years and its activity was obviously antisocial and criminal. The members of the group promoted refusal of institutions of society, state, family, school. They cultivated promiscuity involving underage, building in children immoral, asocial, cynical and lecherous behavior and early sexual desire. During long years the criminal group led by Vesnin organized in Orenburg and its region so called sessions, where they committed lecherous actions against children and underage. In addition, the sect advocated racist and neofascist ideology of lecherous behavior and early sexual desire.

During the probe investigators have identified 14 underage aged between 5 and 16, who got suffered from the criminal activity of the sect. More than 20 unique expert examinations have been made and their conclusions show that the children were in need of medical psychological aid and rehabilitation. All the victims have taken a course of medical psychological and psychiatric aid and rehabilitation at the regional psychotherapeutic center.

The former psychiatrist was detained during one of his sessions in Orenburg in early July 2010 and later was arrested.

Investigators have done tremendous amount of work to consolidate the evidence. It has been found the foundation had 200 members and over 180 acts of criminal activity have been revealed. There are 75 volumes in the criminal case and the indictment is 8 thousand pages.

On 30 January 2013 the court ruled to arrest Vesnin’s mistress Galina Dmitruk. Before that she and 4 more defendants had been on a pledge not to leave Russia. The court changed the restraint as Dmitruk during the probe had met with the witnesses and influenced them persuading them to give the testimonies she had needed. In addition, the court took into consideration an application of a guardianship representative on improper behavior of the defendant, under whose influence the parents of the children, found victims in the case, had organized classes in accordance with the dogmas promoted by Vesnin.

Earlier the court convicted the member of the Foundation and Vesnin’s first assistant 37-year-old Marina Abrosimova. She was found guilty of crimes under part 2 of article 239 of the RF Penal Code (membership in the association encroaching on personality and rights of citizens), part 4 of article 135 (lecherous actions against children, committed by a group of people in a preliminary conspiracy or by an organized group). The court sentenced her to a suspended 5-year prison term and a fine of 50 thousand rubles to the state and a 5-year ban on any pedagogical activity.

The court sentenced Vyacheslav Vesnin to 9 years and 9 months in a high-security penal colony and a 10-year ban on medical activity, in addition he was stripped of a special military rank of lieutenant. Galina Dmitruk was sentenced to 8 years and 3 months in a minimum security penal colony and a 5-year ban on pedagogical activity, Yelena Voropayeva was sentenced to 7.5 years in a minimum security penal colony, Yulia Lukina and Olga Slinyucheva were sentenced to 7 years in a minimum security penal colony and a 5-year ban on pedagogical activity each. In addition Dmitruk’s car and over 31 million rubles were confiscated to the state revenue.
