Vice Chairman of Russia’s Investigative Committee holds meeting discussing results of first days of investigating bodies in Republic of Crimea

Vice Chairman of the Russia’s Investigative Committee Adnrey Lavrenko held a meeting with senior officials and employees of the investigating bodies of the Crimean Federal District in the city of Simferopol on 17 April 2014.

Investigations Directorates of the Crimean Republic and the city of Sebastopol with city and district offices have been set up and successfully operate in the region with over 150 the most competent and experienced employees attached from different regions of Russia.

Cooperation has been organized with all law enforcement structures, state authorities and prosecutor’s office, unified legal approach has been worked out to prevent violation of rights of subjects of criminal proceedings.

In the coming month investigators are going to finish studying over 4 thousand files of crimes earlier investigated by Ukrainian law enforcement bodies. As of today all criminal cases with accused held in custody are in proceeding.

The work has been organized to consider reports on new crimes under jurisdiction of the Russia’s Investigative Committee, investigators visit the crime scenes. Over three weeks 438 reports on crimes have been registered and 66 criminal cases have been launched, including over acts of corruption. All the murders committed over that period of time have been solved.

Round-the-clock telephone lines operate. In addition, citizens can personally report crimes or using Internet-receptions on the official sites of the investigating bodies.

During his working trip Mr. Lavrenko visited a number of investigating offices in the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sebastopol to get more familiar with working conditions and criminal cases under proceeding.
