Chairman of Russia’s Investigative Committee orders check into legality of decision to close criminal case against former director of Raznochinovka children’s home for mental defectives

The Chairman of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has ordered the Main Procedural Control Department to check legality of dismissing a criminal case against former director of Raznochinovka children’s home for mental defectives Valentina Urazaliyeva charged with abusing office (article 285 of the RF Penal Code).

The officials of the Central Office of the Russia’s Investigative Committee are going to look into completeness and objectiveness of the investigation and to check if the role of other officials and local authorities in hiding facts of violation of children’s rights and possible crimes against underage children was investigated.

The investigation confirmed the fact of rape of a sick small girl, who had been treated in the facility. Valentina Urazaliyeva knew about the crime, but did not report it, neither did she take any necessary measures to restore the child’s rights.

Mr. Bastrykin has sent to the Astrakhan Region his aide to find out all the circumstances.
