Chairman of Russia’s Investigative Committee holds briefing in St. Petersburg

Chairman of the Russia’s Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin has held briefing today at the Leningrad Region Directorate of the Investigative Committee.

The briefing was attended by the Head of the Northwestern Federal District Directorate, the Head of Saint-Petersburg Directorate, the Head of the Leningrad Region Directorate and the Head of the Northwestern Transport Investigations Directorate.

At the beginning of the meeting Mr. Bastrykin read the order appointing Andrey I. Yefremov the vice-chairman of the Academy of the Russia’s Investigative Committee and awarded him a certificate.

Then the heads of directorates reported on the state of legality and organization of initial investigation in the directorates they are in charge of. The Chairman of Investigative Committee noted a number of drawbacks in the operation of the directorates and gave explicit orders to eliminate them.

In addition Mr. Bastrykin heard reports on progress and results of investigation in a number of most complex and resonating criminal cases investigated by the bodies of the Investigative Committee in the Northwestern Federal District.

At the same time the Chairman met with activists of the Protect Siversky Forest initiative group, who thanked him for timely interference.
