In Rostov Region member of criminal group found guilty of banditry, attack on law enforcement official and other crimes

A court has recognized the evidence gathered by the North Caucasus Federal District Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee sufficient to convict Anzor Tsechoyev. He was found guilty of crimes under part 2 of article 210 of the RF Penal Code (membership in a criminal society), part 2 of article 209 (banditry), article 317 (encroachment on the life of a law enforcement official), paragraphs “a” and “b” of part 3 of article 163 (extortion), part 2 of article 167 (deliberate destruction or damage of property), part 3 of article 222 (illegal circulation of firearms).

The court and investigators have found that Tsechoyev, sharing the goals of the criminal group and its means – serious and especially serious crimes: terrorist attacks, attacks on organizations, citizens, law enforcement officials and military servants, illegal circulation of firearms, its main parts, ammunition, explosive devices and explosives and other crimes, realizing generally dangerous nature of his actions, foreseeing unavoidable criminal consequences and wanting them, in June 2010 voluntarily joined a stable armed group acting in Malgobek District in the Republic of Ingushetia, which was branch of criminal society “Vilayat Galgayche” and partook in committing serious and especially serious crimes. On 18 August 2011, he together with accomplices killed a police officer in the village of Sagopshi, Malgobek District of Ingushetia. In June 2011 gang members twice set off improvised explosive devices damaging 2.5 million rubles worth property of two residents of Ingushetia. In 2012, Tsechoyev extorted 18 million rubles from deputy CEO of OAO Interregional Grid Company of the North Caucasus and manager of an additional branch of OAO Rosselkhozbnak. In addition, before joining the gang Tsechoyev had committed arson to a shop in the town of Malgobek owned by a local businessman.

Operative support of the investigation was provided by officers of Ingushetia Office of the Federal Security Service, Interior Ministry of North Ossetia-Alania and that of the Republic of Ingushetia.

The court has sentenced Tsechoyev to 15 years to be served in a maximum-security penal colony.
