In Primorye Territory official of customs post suspected of exceeding authority

The investigating bodies of the Far Eastern Transport Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a criminal case against an official of Nakhodka customs suspected of a crime under part 1 of article 286 of the RF Penal Code (exceeding authority).

According to investigators, from August to October 2012 customs declarations were filed to the customs post Eastern Port of Nakhodka customs on behalf of Trade Logistics Company and Transport Logistics Company regarding goods imported from China at cost much lower than benchmark costs. Deputy Head of the customs post Eastern Sea Port of Nakhodka customs knowing that he had no authority to agree the decision to let out the goods, on behalf of the customs post head within measure 623 used to minimize a risk profile revealed in stating cost of goods in declaration of goods, still agreed to let out the goods at the cost stated by filers, by which he helped those companies to pay all customs duties. According to preliminary information, the sum of unpaid customs duties to the budget of the Russian Federation is over 3 million rubles.

The act of corruption was revealed during investigating and search operations by the Primorye Territory Office of the Federal Security Service and Counter Corruption Office of Nakhodka customs.

At present investigators are looking into all the circumstances of the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
