In Krasnoyarsk Territory criminal investigation launched into violation of security regulations during operations at chemical plant

The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Krasnoyarsk Region have launched a criminal investigation into a crime under part 3 of article 216 of the RF Penal Code (violation of security regulations when performing mining, construction and other works).

According to preliminary version of the investigation, on June 20 of 2014 at 9:20 AM a contracting firm was dismantling an unexploited building near one of the workshops at the premises of Yenisey chemical plant. In the course of dismantling there was an explosion, presumably, due to the vapors of a substance used for gun powder production, which was kept in a metal tube being dismantled. According to the plant’s senior officials, there were five people working at the site. Two men 48 and 49 years of age were killed, other two were pulled from under the rubbles and taken to hospital with different injuries. A 55-years-old man was examined by doctors and will get outpatient treatment.

At the moment a set of necessary investigating operations are under way to find all the circumstances of the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
