Criminal investigation launched into theft of painting found during search in Navalny’s flat

The Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee on a report from the author of A Bad and Good Man painting has opened a criminal case over a crime under paragraph “c” of part 2 of article 158 of the RF Penal Code (theft).

According to investigators, an unidentified person secretly stole A Bad and Good Man painting placed on a public display in one of the central streets in the city of Vladimir. This painting was owned by one of the local artists. The damage caused by its stealing is quite considerable for the author.

Today the stolen paining was found during a search in Alexey Navalny’s flat. It was expropriated and attached to the files of the criminal case as material evidence.

At present investigating operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the crime and those involved in the theft. The investigation is ongoing.
