Criminal case launched into murder of Great Patriotic War veteran in Krasnodar Territory

On June 18, 2014 Yeysk Interdistrict Investigation Department of Investigative Committee of Russian Federation got a report that a body of an 87-year-old local citizen, a Great Patriotic War veteran with an incised wound to his neck, had been found in his household in the village of Bolshevik. The investigation bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Krasnodar Territory have opened a criminal case over the crime under part 1 of article 105 of the RF Criminal Code (murder).

The investigators have found that the elderly man lived alone in his private household. One of the neighbors used to visit him to help him with domesticities. On 18 June 2018, the woman also came to him and found the inanimate body with an incised wound to his neck. During the incident site inspection the investigators found no evidence that anything had been stolen. However, investigators will still have to find out if the most valuable things – the dead veteran’s medals – were stolen. 

The investigators have inspected the incident site. Urgent investigating operations are underway to on find out all the circumstances of the incident. A number of expert examinations was set up, including a forensic medical one to investigate the real cause of the veteran’s death.

The investigation of crimes affecting vulnerable groups of citizens and especially of the Great Patriotic War veterans has always been specially controlled by the senior officials of the Russia’s Investigative Committee. The investigators of the Committee’s regional directorate will do their best to investigate this cruel crime as soon as possible and to identify all those guilty of the murder of veteran.
