Wanted member of gang Anzor Chentiyev to be charged after brought to investigator

After brought to an investigator of the Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Chechen Republic, wanted member of a gang Anzor Chentiyev will be charged with banditry, attempt on the life of a law enforcement officer, robbery and stealing of a gun (part 2 of article 209 of the RF Penal Code, article 317, part 3 of article 162, paragraph “b” of part 4 of article 226).

According to investigators the gang with Chentiyev as a member was set up in Grozny in 2001. In July the same year the suspect together with other members of the gang was travelling in a car in Grozny. When they noticed a car with two riot police officers of the Office of the Russian Interior Ministry for the Chechen Republic inside, the accomplices shot at them several times killing them at the scene. In April 2005, the suspect, being a member of a gang, committed a robbery-related assault and threatening with weapons stole over 150 thousand rubles. In May 2005, Chentiyev together with other members of the gang broke into a private property and threatening with weapons demanded from the victim to give them cash and valuables worth a total of over 200 thousand rubles.

Later Chentiyev escaped from investigators, and was declared federally wanted in November 2005 and internationally wanted in April 2006. In April 2006, the suspect was detained in Slovakia. It should be said that trying to avoid extradition Chentiyev appealed to the European Court of Human Rights against the decision of the Slovakian court to give him up to Russia. The Russian Federation joined the process as the third party explaining validity of its requirement to extradite the accused for being prosecuted. In April 2014, the European Court of Human Rights refused Chentiyev’s appeal and after the case over extradition in Russia was considered by the competent bodies of Slovakia for almost eight years, in May 2014, the Slovakia’s Minister of Justice ultimately ruled to satisfy Chentiyev’s extradition.

In the near future Chentiyev will be brought in Russia to an investigator of Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Chechen Republic for investigating and procedural operations.
